How long does a split system installation take?
A standard back-to-back installation, with the indoor and outdoor units on either side of the same wall, usually takes 3 to 5 hours. Longer pipe runs, two-storey installs, or switchboard work extend that. We confirm the timeframe when we quote.
Does a split system need its own electrical circuit?
Usually, yes. Most units above the smallest sizes draw enough current to need a dedicated circuit with safety switch protection. Because we are electrical contractors, the circuit and any switchboard work are done in the same visit as the installation.
Can you supply the unit, or do I buy my own?
Either works. We can supply and install a unit matched to your room, or install a unit you have purchased, provided it is new and the right capacity for the space. We will tell you honestly if a unit you have bought is the wrong size before it goes on the wall.
Where should the outdoor unit go?
Somewhere with clear airflow, out of the worst afternoon sun, on a stable base or brackets, and positioned so the noise does not sit under a bedroom window, yours or the neighbour's. Placement is part of the site assessment we do before quoting.
